A couple of weeks ago I tried making a Shepherd's Pie for the first time. My pal told me about it so I went ahead and tried it. My son loved it so much that he ate every last bit.

Here's the recipe:

1lb mince
1 onion
A carrot and a wee bit of turnip.
A wee bit of garlic too!
About 5lb of tatties (depending on your dish)

Cook your mince, carrot, onion, turnip and garlic together until it's all cooked.
Peel your tatties until you can mash them, then add a wee bit milk and butter.
Put the mince in a dish and cover the mince with the mash.
Grate some cheese over the top and put it in the oven for a few minutes more.

Serve and eat with a big glass of milk!

This sounds great.

I have never made Shepherds Pie either, always using the Tesco frozen one you can get for a couple of quid and is meant to feed 4 and does me just fine.  The only thing is it's full of salt and fat.

Your recipe is more healthy.  I think I'll give it a go.
