Write a “Hieton”, or two or three or …
A Hieton is a short poem in the form of :-
A Title followed by Four Lines of two words per line.
The rhyme scheme is, a b c b.
The title, of any length, should be described by the four lines of the poem.
Although there is no strict requirement, for best practice the fourth line should summarise the preceding three lines.
Here are a few examples :
North Carolina Inspiration Idol
Sunrise hike Fashioned plate
Floating rock Barbie mold
Natures desk Twisted fate
Poetry stock Billions sold
Take a look at “Idol”.
The last line “Billions sold”, and in particular the reference to sold
sums up, for me, the idea that modern cosmetic surgery (Barbie mold),
the fashioning of an image stamped out by a plate or repetitive pattern,
produces a twisted or distorted legacy for the future.
Billions of look alike ‘Idols’ made with money does seem a twisted fate
to leave to our descendants
