Neptune's Steed

Salt stallion, spirit of the sea
Light footed prancing in the foam
Muscular frame, intelligent eyes
Flaring nostrils
An unshod god leading his spiritual herd

Waves explode and crash about his moonshine withers
A swish of the tail, a shake of the gossamer mane then
The thundering steel hooves fall silent
And the riderless wild silver waterfall is gone.

Contact us I don't understand the poem ASH.

Who was Neptune?

Does any other reader out there know who Neptune was, or is?

Apart from that, it's a bit high brow for my simple tastes.
