Maggie

Tho plain and humble, be thy face,
No sign of malice, can i trace
No scornful looks, can i see
Tho plain and humble, you may be

There beneath the heaving brest
Beats the heart, that i love best
Humbleness can never hide
The sweetness of its flowing tides

The inner beauty like the river flows
Warming the heart with its inner glow
A blushing rose in the morning dew
A sparking spring of rainbow hues

The simple garments that you wear
May at times bring a stare
Vain ignorance will never see
The glowing beauty that you,
share with me.
