Book Review
I recently read a fiction book 'Second Chance' by Patricia Scanlan which
also came with a tape.
I enjoyed this book. It was small, easy to read and also came with a tape.
I found the tape slow at times but it was good when I couldn't pronounce a
word.
Listening to the Irish accent of the narrator was good as the characters
were Irish. It was so real.
The negative point is that every chapter introduces a new character
especially when I found myself reading about someone called Dave Cummins.
I thought I was reading another book.
This book is about a young Irish couple, Jean, Tony and their baby. Who
moved in with Jean's mum, as Tony was made redundant.
Tony didn't get on with his mother-in-law. She was hard to live with
because she was pernickety. Although they they were the main characters,
the book also involves Dave Cummins, who is the local villain and a lovely
old couple Sarah and Eddie Collins.
Sarah gets mugged and ends up in hospital. Despite what happens something
good comes out of this.
I recommend this book for everyone from teenagers to pensioners.

I recently
listened to a talking book, one of John Rankin's crime novels.
But I didn't like the accent of the narrator so it wasted it for me.
However, I still
thinks there is a place for them, especially if you get the ones with the
book as well.
Thanks for the review and keep them
coming.
