This summer I read a biography of Charles Dickens by Peter Leigh.

I borrowed it from the Big+ collection at Blantyre Library.  It is fairly short as it has 28 pages but it's amazing how much information is packed into the book and how easy it is to read.

There is one photo and several illustrations in the book which I liked because they made reading the book more interesting to see how old he looked like for a man of 58 years.

The book was very interesting because it tells you about the private life as well as the work of one of the most famous writers of the 19th century. Most people have heard of his books such as The Pickwick Papers and Oliver Twist.

I didn't know that Dickens father was in prison for debt.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading both fact and fiction.

Thank you for that.

The Big+ collections at all libraries are a really good read and thanks for pointing that out for all of us.

I have often thought of Charles Dicken work as a bit heavy.   Perhaps the Big+ do shorter versions.
