This Book Review is about a Girl called Hope

 SKYLARKS AT SUNSET

BY RITA BRADSHAW

This is a story of an extraordinary girl who is called Hope, who lost her parents when she and her sister were very young, so her auntie took them in.  She already had five children of her own, three young men and two young girls.  Hope is loved very much by her auntie, who is her mothers big sister.

She meets a young man and falls madly in love.  His father does not want them to get together.  He thinks she is not good enough for him, but they married anyway.

They now have twins, a boy and a girl, his father is very taken by the boy child.  It is very hard for Hope as it is an ongoing battle with her father-in-law, she has another baby, a girl, and is very happy until her sister lands on her doorstep and announces she is expecting a baby, which arrives three months later. Then she disappears leaving her with an extra child to bring up.

She finds out that her father in law is still wheeling and dealing, and gets her son involved with him this time.

They meet a man who turns out to be someone he had crossed in the past. There was a big fight and his eldest son was killed, and was left paralysed.

Hope and her husband were worried that the men who caused the trouble would go after their son. Her father-in-law got his friend to smother himself And his grandson thought it was all his fault, so after the funeral they decide to flee the country.

I find that this author is so good, that if you put the book down you can not wait to pick it up again! She is one author I enjoy,

Sounds like a fast moving story Marjorie.

I got a bit mixed up at the bit where you said "the father in law got his friend to smother himself".   How can you get someone to smother themselves?

Also, who was  it that was left paralysed, the father in law?

Please let me know.

Marjorie contacted me and said she would rather have people read the book than explain the story in depth.   Good answer Marjory!
