Cleghorn

One of the jobs I really liked was drilling after the soil had been made ready, and the granulated fertiliser spread, ready to start drilling.

First you have to have drilling plough set up with stabiliser, so it will follow the tractor straight and true, plus keeping the drilling at the same constant level and at the same depth of drilling throughout the job.

Then I would be ready to start after I had gone back to the farm and dropped off the drilling plough in the shed, then go and hitch the precision turnip-seeder and head back to the field.

Time for a break!   Switch the tractor off and pick some spot to enjoy my break in the sun.  I always liked my breaks in the fields.

But all good things come to an end – back to work!   You could cover a lot of ground quick with the precision seeder.   It would cover four drills at a time.   As long as you kept the seeder boxes full, you would have no problems.   Once started you want to finish the same day if possible.

I bet this person would start at 4.00 in the morning and finish at 11.00 at night, if it was sunny that is.
