POT HOLES

13.11.03

Sir,

With reference to the report in last week’s Advertiser about the pot holes on the main route from Ashgill to Larkhall.

Have they completely ignored the constant complaints about the pot holes on this route from the local people who attend his monthly meetings in the Ashgill Community Centre?

I know there is a lot of traffic on our roads today, but really the council must repair the roads properly instead of patching them up!  In the last four months I have had the expense of two new tyres for my car!  For the amount of road tax motorists pay, all we ask for is suitable roads to drive our vehicles on.

What we don’t want to hear is that there is a lot more traffic on the roads these days and that the council is struggling with the up-keep to maintain them.  If that’s the case there are plenty of unemployed people about. Train them up! (to maintain the roads).

As for the cost, perhaps it could be raised from fining those contractors who allow litter to escape from their lorries on the way to the Hamilton Dump!
