l was brought up in Blackwood from
when l was two years old. l remember playing in the Swing Park (they've
moved it to the other side of the road) but we played a lot in the street
as well. We played rounders, skipping, hide and seek and l remember the
parents would come out and join in. l also remember a rag man and a cake
van would come round. Oh, yes, an ice cream van too! l've lived here all
my days and can't imagine living anywhere else. |

Long gone are the days when the parents would join in. In my day it was the 'big yins' versus the 'wee yins'. They used to beat us up. All a good laugh too. Life in my Kirkfieldbank seems similar to life in your Blackwood. Thanks Jean.
