Easter Playscheme (April, 2004) I supervised our Easter Playscheme at the school over 3 days. Day 1 I organised garden groups in the morning for all the children. All the children put their hands into the compost. It was something different for the children to feel in their hands. All the children then put some compost into their pots and then put their plants in and then put some more compost into their pot. All the children loved it and were laughing. In the afternoon we all made some Easter cards for the children to take home with them. The children picked what they wanted to put on their cards. We had some Easter chickens, rabbits, eggs, sheep, and some Easter bunnies. It was good fun. I don’t know who had the most fun, all the staff or the children! Day 2 In the morning we had a baking group. All the children were helping to cut up all the ingredients. We cut up Mars bars, biscuits, mallows and cereals and tasted them. The best ingredient was the chocolate. All the children loved the chocolate tasting. We made 15 slices and Mars bar cake and top hats. We put them into the fridge to harden for Day 3. Some of the children went up to the I.T. Room to play on the computer. One of the children told me she had a good time at the Playscheme as it was her first time in our school. She told her mum she did not want to go home as she was having such a good time with all the other children. She said it was a lovely feeling - everyone was so nice and friendly to her. In the afternoon we had a music group. All the children love music. One of the children was singing as she loves singing. All the rest of the children got some musical instruments to play in the band. Day 3 In the morning we had 2 Group doing some sports and 3 Group was out in the grounds for a walk and some were going to see the children in the bungalows that stay in all the time. One of the children had not seen the bungalows before. She said that the bungalows were lovely. She said that she would like to stay in one of the bungalows one day. In the afternoon we had a party for all the children. We had all the stuff we made on Day 2. And the children took some home with them for their mums and dads. And then we had some wheelchair dancing to finish with as all the children love dancing to the music. All had a good time. So I did feel good as all had a good time when at the Play scheme. All the children and the staff had a good time. Some said thank you for letting them come and join in our Playscheme as that was their first time. One asked if she could come back to the Playscheme next week! I told her she could come for 2 days as that was all the space that was left. She said she would see me next week. I told her it wasn’t me that was on but she would be fine as she knows some of the staff that were on for the 2 weeks. I told her I might pop in to see her. Alison (South Lanarkshire) |
