Scariest Moment

When I was a child I lived in Motherwell, near the Colville Park estate. There was a very old house in the estate, with towers and a huge wooden door with brass studs. We always said it was haunted. It had huge, old trees round the driveway leading to the door.

One day friends dared my sister and me to go up and open the door, and we were daft enough to try. We went to the door and pushed it. It creaked very loudly, and all we could see inside was tons of dust and cobwebs.

Just then, there was a horrible screeching noise, and we ran like the clappers as far away as we could. We found out, days later, that it was one of our pals had made the noise, just to scare us – and it sure did!
