Chapter 4 Australian Story:
MISSING FRIEND
Ben said, "Get up and get ready we are all going out."
"Where to?" Gina asked.
Sue said, "You will see when we get there!"
They went to the restaurant. Sue and Ben said "Hello" to the waitress and
introduced their family.
The waitress said "Hello. Would you like me to take your order?" in a very
polite and friendly manner.
When they were sitting in the restaurant Sue turned to Ben and said, "I
think that waitress is familiar she looks like a friend I knew years ago
called Julie. She moved when we were only ten years old."
Ben said, "Well Sue the only way to find out is to ask her name."
So, when the waitress came back with their meals Sue said, "If I'm not
being cheeky what is your name?"
"My name was Julie Howard but since I got married it's Julie Matheson,"
she answered.
Sue looked at Ben then looked at the waitress and said, "Do you remember
me from primary school?"
Julie looked puzzled, "No should I?"
"My name was Sue Thomson. We were in the same primary six class. The
teacher was Mrs Gibson!"
Sue couldn't believe she had found her friend she thought she'd never see
again.
Julie asked Sue, "What did you end up doing?"
Sue said, "Became a doctor. Although I sometimes think being a ballerina
is for me! This is my husband Ben. I met him at medical school, but he
dropped out and became a vet because he preferred patients that didn't
complain all the time!"
Julie smiled and said, "That's funny my husband Jamie is a vet! He has
his own veterinary practice."
Julie asked, "Why don't you and the family come for dinner tomorrow night
at my house? I'll introduce you to my husband and my two girls Jackie and
Jolene and the wee rascals Paul and Peter."
Sue said, "That would be great we have a lot to catch up on!"
