Thanks for the article John.   I assume from the others that the sand going machine is the hovercraft.   Could you find out how much it costs and let us know?

We all went to see the lifeboat station in Troon with the group on Thursday the 22.05.08. We had a packed lunch and we saw inflatable lifeboats. Joe told us all about different names of all the rivers for the lifeboats, e.g. names of lifeboats, the Severn, the Mersey, the Tamar, the Trent. The lifeboat at Troon was an Arran class. We all had a great time and it was a hot day. The other types of lifeboats were the B class (Atlantic), D class which has been the workhorse of the service for 40 years, the E class lifeboat was introduced to the fleet in 2002 and can operate in mud, sand and very shallow water.
