In China the most important festival is Chinese New Year which is also known as the Spring Festival. This festival usually falls in January or early February. The festival falls on first of January according to the Lunar Calendar.
In New Year Eve, every family prepares a lot of traditional meals. Family members try to come back home from far and near to eat the reunion dinner. On the first day of New Year parents give money as a gift to children in a red envelope. Most of the people go to relatives or friends to pay New Year wishes. At New Year day there are lots of different sports, various displays of lanterns in the parks designed with animals and flowers with riddles written on them. People go to the park to admire these beautifully made lanterns and try to guess the riddles. All try to enjoy and make the most of the day with families. |
