Loi Krathang is a festival held in November every year. It is to celebrate the full moon. The Loi Krathong Festival is celebrated widespread in Thailand, especially where there are rivers, canals and lakes. This is particularly a Thai festival and probably originated in North Thailand.
At night people celebrate and make boats or baskets of banana leaves and fill them with flowers, incense, candles and money. These are floated on Thai rivers, lakes and canals. This is done so as to send the entire bad thing away into the water and hope the water will bring back good luck and good things in the near future. We also launch paper hot –air balloons into the sky, and have fireworks. There is also sound and light show held at this time in parks. |

You say that it is ‘particularly a Thai festival’. Does this festival happen in other countries, not just Thailand?
