Lisbetta Story

My name is Lisbetta I came here from Estonia over two years ago.

My three children the youngest is thirteen years old they stayed in my home country, my children did not want to come here because home and friends were very important.

It was easier to come here because I learned English at school. It was a long time ago when I left from school in 1985.

I started here to learn at ESOL courses. It is very good when people from different countries are learning together, then you learn to understand faster.

It is not easy to understand Scottish people, different pronunciation and very fast at talking.

I have here many friends from my country at this time I have Scottish friends. It is interesting to know cultures and traditions.

My child is learning here in this country, usually young people don’t like to move to another country. All friends stay at home and go to school and making new friends it’s not easy. My child made friends on the first week when she came to school they go to the cinema and meet at home.

People here are friendly and helpful.   When I had some problems to go somewhere my neighbours always helped me.

I don’t understand people who come here to this country and not try to learn the English language. I like this country, its not very different from my home country. Here I can go everywhere when I have day off.

I like long hikes and walkings with my friends.   Here is very good transport system.   The weather here is warmer. In Estonia sometimes it’s a very cold winter, -20 and lower. There are warmer summer and more sunshine in Estonia.

 (laughs)…….no probs.
